  • Student workers can earn free registration and lunch for the meeting if they work a shift at the registration table. Students might be asked to work as early as 7:30 am on the day of the meeting. You will be contacted before the meeting about your time slot.

2021 Annual Meeting

of the

Pennsylvania Geographical Society

The 2021 Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania Geographical Society will be held at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in York, Pennsylvania. The meeting is being sponsored York College of Pennsylvania.

 

Registration for the meeting will begin on 7 September 2021.  All registrants receive lunch as part of the registration fee. Participants who register by 22 October 2021 will receive a $10 discount on the registration fees.

 

This year’s luncheon guest speaker is Deirdre Dalpiaz Bishop, Chief of Geography Division, United States Census Bureau, the 2021 Distinguished Geographer Award recipient.

 

Paper presentations are limited to 15 minutes; abstracts of a maximum of 200 words should be submitted with registration. Posters and maps will be on display all day on Friday. Please visit the PGS website for poster size restrictions, and posters must be mounted in such a way that they may be displayed on an easel (i.e. cardboard). Abstract submissions for papers and posters will not be accepted after October 22d! No exceptions! You will be required to submit your abstract information on-line through the PGS web site.

 

Suggestions for workshops, organized paper sessions and thematic discussion panels are also welcomed. Please contact the meeting co-chairs, Frank Galgano (francis.galgano@villanova.edu) or Jennifer Pomeroy (jpomeroy@ycp.edu) if you are interested in running a workshop or special session.

 

ALL STUDENTS WHO PRESENT A PAPER OR POSTER AT THE MEETING WILL HAVE THEIR REGISTRATION FEES REIMBURSED AFTER THE MEETING.

 

Students are encouraged to enter the paper contest or the Elaine F. Bosowski poster contest and cash awards are presented to the best graduate and undergraduate student papers, maps or posters displayed at the annual meeting. Any graduate or undergraduate student who registers for the PGS meeting is eligible. Separate competitions will be held for undergraduates and graduates, and cash awards are presented for the best papers and maps/posters at each level. Students may enter the paper or map/poster contest simply by checking the appropriate box on the registration form when registering for the conference. Rooms are $85 per night plus tax. Please note that the reservation cut-off date is Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Any reservations received after Tuesday, October 8, 2019 or after the contract block is full will be based upon availability of both space and rate.
